Predicting the path of Google with their search algorithm is a combination between paying attention, testing, analysis, common sense and luck. With Google continuing to focus on the "mobile first" initiative by pushing hard on Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), Progressive Web Applications (PWA) and website speed in Chrome DevTools (As well as, Google PageSpeed Insights). My current prediction is that we will see an even stronger push for lightening fast content on both desktop and mobile. Being the fundamentalist that I am, I absolutely love the direction search engine optimization is heading. It's my belief that content creators should be more focused on providing quality content accented by simple user interactions. The garbage truck full of excessive JavaScript, large unoptimized images, inefficient code and the ton of other overhead that seeps in to a website will have to be addressed. The alternative is going to be pretty hash with web pages and whole websites tumbling down or completely falling off Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs).
